Our Mother, June Rasmussen, daughter of Clarence Gleasman and Myrtle Deforest-Gleasman, sole sister of Betty Gleasman-Bowers, was born at home at 920 Calvert Street, Rome, NY. on August 11, 1927 and passed on due to natural causes in (ENTER CITY) MD on 21 November 2020.
Devoted spouse of Jens Elmer Eugene (Gene) Rasmussen (deceased May 24, 2016), the couple were married in the First United Methodist Church located at 400 N Madison Street, in Rome, NY on December 08, 1945. They celebrated 70 years of marriage with their entire family in attendance in 2015.
Proud mother of 4 children, Bonna Jean Rasmussen-Sutherland, Annapolis MD, Joan Lee Rasmussen-McPhillips (deceased) Long Beach CA, Eugene Albert Rasmussen, Miami FL and Eric Jens Rasmussen of Bristol RI. the couple's legacy grew to include 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. June joined the nursing profession in 1970 and retired from Rome Hospital, Rome NY in 1985. After moving to Annapolis, MD in 1996, June and Gene were welcomed as active members at the Annapolis Fleet Reserve and the local chapter of the Elks Club. June held the position of Chaplin of the Fleet Reserve in 2008-09. Her passion for fashion remained her inspiration to the very end of her days.
She fought the good fight. Her race is over. Her mission is now complete.
