Isabel B. Norquist
26 octubre , 1935 – 23 marzo , 2021
Isabel B. Norquist was 1 of 11 children born to John and Frances Lauinger in North Dakota. She was a strong young lady, as you had to be caring for a farm. She graduated from Strausburg High School in North Dakota, and then her career and life took her to Aurora, Colorado. She worked as an LPN at the VA Hospital at Fitsimmons, now VA Medical Center, for over 30 years. Her job and family life were equally important to her, and she was very much a strong woman, giving exceptional care to her patients, and then her four children. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Aurora, and enjoyed tending to her rose bushes and peach tree. She was the rock of her family, making sure that Loren, Laurel, Laurie, and Lloyd were always taken care of and protected, even to her death. Isabel had fought a valiant fight with cancer over the last 5 years, and on March 23rd she succumbed. She is survived by her life partner of 30 years, Jean Jourdan; children, Loren (Jay), Laurel (Donald), Laurie, and Lloyd (Elsie); grandchildren, Jason, Elliott, and Rudi; siblings, Mary Anne and Steve. Isabel was incredibly detail oriented, and as such, she left family and friends notes on what not to do for her final arrangements: no memorial service, no flowers, no viewings. She wanted to be with her peach tree and rose bushes where her family could remember her with fondness and love in their hearts. The world will be different without this bright light and caring lady to grace us, but she will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.

Blessings to all of you at this time. I know you will miss your partner, mother/mother-in-law , and grandmother Isabel. She was Mom Theresa's younger sister by 12 years and a wonderful strong aunt whom I will miss. Any time I visited her she was welcoming, giving, and hospitable. One especially fond memory I have is when our family was visiting and we went to a restaurant for a meal. We sat next to each other, and shared jokes...laughing 'til my sides hurt. She graced my life with her courage and resiliency.

My condolences to you on the loss of your wonderful mother Isabel. I feel so fortunate that I re-connected with your mother, my aunt, a few summers ago when we visited her and Jean in their home. She made a delicious lunch for me and my sister Janice and then shared with us some of her life story which I found so interesting. I realized what a strong woman she must have been and such a loving mother to her children. After that visit we stayed connected when she would call her brother Kasper, my dad, and then we'd talk some too, again sometimes sharing a glimpse of her growing up years, and always end with 'I love you." She showed such interest in my grandson, Jakob too. I will miss her. I think about Aunt Isabel and my dad and Aunt Betty all growing up together as brother and sisters and passing away so close together in time. I think they are all together now again with their loved ones and with God.
