

Edward Arnold Schroeder passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the age of 89. All of us who love him rejoice that he is with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; parents, Henry and Dona Schroeder; brother, Emmett Schroeder; and sister, Gladys Lummus. He is survived by his son, Ron & wife Gloria Schroeder of Austin, granddaughter, Annette & husband Chris Folmar of Austin; granddaughter, Natalie & husband Wayne Garrett of Austin; grandson, Mark & Samantha Schroeder of Austin, and 7 great-grandchildren. Born September 26, 1918 in McGregor, Texas, Arnold was the youngest son of Dona and Henry Schroeder. The family moved to Waco, Texas where he later graduated from Baylor University. His fondest memories included working in his parents' Double Cola Bottling plant in Waco. Arnold married Mary Louise Jackoskie on September 8, 1940 and spent the next 66 years of marriage enjoying life. They raised their beloved son, Ron, in Waco, Texas and moved to Austin in 1968. He was a veteran of World War II and was stationed in the China-Burma Theatre. Arnold earned multiple degrees in psychology and statistics, while working full time to support his family. While at the Texas Employment Commission, Arnold conducted research studies designing employment testing for large corporations, such as Texas Instruments, Levi Strauss and IBM. He later volunteered as a counselor for cancer patients and worked in the church serving the homeless. Arnold had a life-long appreciation of all things beautiful. He loved to travel and have a great time with friends and family. He could make anyone laugh and was truly devoted to family. Arnold and Mary Lou were members of the Texas Hill Country and Alamo Airstream clubs, traveling the US in their Airstream trailer with their beloved pets and making new friends along the way. Arnold's lessons of hard work and devotion remain with those he loved. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, Texas.
