William Marvin Wilson Jr, 94, of Lumberton, passed on Wednesday May 5th, 2021 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. A graduate of South Park High School, Marvin entered the United States Army Air Corps in 1944, where he repaired P-51 fighter planes based in Guam and Saipan. After his military service, Marvin returned to Beaumont and married his beloved bride, Joann Reimers, in 1951. Marvin graduated from Lamar State College of Technology in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and worked for many years at Union Oil refinery. In addition, he served as a firefighter for the Chance-Loeb Volunteer Fire Department and was elected as one of the first mayors of Rose Hill Acres. Marvin and Joann were active over the years in several area congregations of the Church of Christ, as their love for God was an important value to both of them. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents William Marvin Wilson, Sr. and Dula White Wilson; his beloved wife of 68 years, Joann; as well as three siblings (Novis, Conway, and Elray). Marvin is survived by his sister Wanda; two children, David and Linda; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family has chosen to hold a private graveside service.
