Josie, 74, of Bremerton, passed away at home on March 5, 2019 from complications related to lung cancer. She never smoked. Born in Manilla, Philippines, she came to America in the 1960s as a young war bride. Josie settled in the Bremerton area in the 1970s. Josie was valedictorian of her high school graduating class. She earned an associate degree from Olympic College and held various clerical jobs. Josie was also a self-taught stock trader, property manager, mechanic, plumber, legal advocate, and entrepreneur. Josie worked hard and was always game for adventure. Josie was an avid gardener, loved Karaoke, music, game shows and square dancing. She frequented social events at the Elks Club and Kitsap Square Dance and was a member of the Filipino Womens Club.
Josie is survived by her sister, Nenita Jones of Bremerton, brother-in-law, Carl Jones, and brother, Eduardo Roldan; three children: Diane Christensen, Joel Christensen, and Annette Christensen; seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Josie’s remains will be laid near her sister, Helen Martin, and mother, Anastacia Meru, at Miller-Woodlawn in Bremerton. Funeral services and a Friendship Gathering will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Bremerton at 10:30 am, Monday, March 18, 2019, followed by graveside services at 2pm at Miller-Woodlawn.
