With great sadness, we inform that our beloved Josefa Ríos Rojas went to dwell with the Lord on Saturday, August 1.
Josie or Titi, as her family and friends knew her, was 78 and fought a battle against cancer. It would be wrong to say that Josie lost her battle against cancer because she fought until her last breath. No matter how weak she felt, she stood firm without questioning the Lord’s will. Josie gave us a lesson through her strong spirit, her unwavering faith, her determination to move forward, her perseverance and resilience.
She was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. To her, her family was always a top priority. She was a sensible soul who cared for and deeply loved her family and friends. She was an excellent cook, but also enjoyed dining out and having cocktails. She was flirtatious and loved to dress fashionably. Her spirit and passion for living life were contagious. She loved music and dancing. Although she experienced extraordinary physical changes due to her health conditions, her acceptance and bravery were admirable. Her faith in God and in the Virgin Mary were undeniable.
She is survived by her husband and life partner for the past 57 years, three children, daughter-in-law and 2 sons-in-law, 4 beautiful grandchildren, 3 brothers and several close relatives and friends.
We will celebrate Josie's life on Tuesday, August 4, at El Pilar Funeral Home in Canóvanas. The wake will be from 8:30am to 2:30pm. The mass will be at 1:00pm and the burial at 3:00 p.m.
Due to the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, seats inside the chapel for the mass will be reserved for the immediate family. We hope to "stream" the mass over the Internet. We will be sharing more details for those family and friends who wish to accompany us during this difficult time.
Thank you,
