She went to the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond where she earned her Bachelors of Pharmacy Degree. Her first job as a pharmacist after college was in People’s Drugs, where she met her future husband of 36 years, Edward Saleeba. The couple moved to North Carolina and lived in High Point, Henderson and finally Charlotte, raising their family.
In 1999 once their boys were out of the house, they moved to Memphis for 11 years for Ed’s job before coming back to Charlotte to retire in 2011. Betty was a pharmacist for over 40 years, working in retail pharmacies, hospitals, and mail order companies. During retirement, she was an active volunteer in her church, South Mecklenburg Presbyterian, and spent her days knitting, doing crossword puzzles, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons David (Jennifer), Daniel (Rosemary) and 4 grandchildren- Cameron, Mackenzie, James, Kendall.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s’ Hospital in Memphis, TN or the
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
A memorial service for Elizabeth will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 22, 2018 at South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church, 8601 Bryant Farms Road, Charlotte, NC 28277.
