Robert Lee Carter Jr.

Robert Lee Carter, Jr., 62, died suddenly Monday, October 15, 2012 in Salisbury. Born on June 4, 1950 in Charlotte, he was the son of Patsy Smith Carter and the late Robert Lee Carter. Mr. Carter served three tours in Vietnam as a U.S. Marine and was employed with American Fence and Supply Company. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and was a sports enthusiast.

A funeral to celebrate his life will be held at 9:00AM, Friday, October 19th at The Derita Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service with Rev. D. Wayne Prillaman officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00PM to 9:00PM, Thursday evening.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Carter is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Sylvia Scism Carter; three sons, Shane Carter, of Charleston, SC, Seth Carter, Trae Carter, both of Charlotte; a daughter, Amber Carter, of Charlotte; a sister, Donna Pinion and husband Ray, of Troutman; a brother, Steve Carter, of Indian Trail; a granddaughter, Abigail E. Accardo, of Troutman and a special lifelong friend, Tony Gillard, of Charlotte
