Ildefonso “Fonso” Nieves was a loving husband of 65 years, great father and an amazing grandfather. He was a man of God, devoted to Jesus Christ. He met his wife Delia in the Barrio Liro in Juncos, Puerto Rico and married her in 1957. He then lived in Youngstown where his two oldest sons were born. Four years later, he went back to Puerto Rico where his daughter and three younger sons were born. Shortly after his mother in law passed away, she gave custody of his two nieces to him and his wife. Where they raised them as they’re own daughters. In the late 1970’s, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a Pentacostal Church in Puerto Rico. He relocated along with his wife and children from Puerto Rico to Cleveland in the early 1980’s, where since he’s lived. He was a self employed mechanic and until this day loved working on cars. He loved to cook and bake for his wife and family. He always prayed for everyone and was a member of Ilgesia De Dios Pentacostal. He was very proud of his family and legacy that he leaves behind with beautiful memories that they will cherish forever. Every chance that he got especially on holidays, birthdays, and at church he always started his speech saying that he had 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. It was very important to him that his family stayed united with each other and faithful to God. He touched many people throughout his life and it was a gift to have known him. His family will forever treasure his wisdom, teachings, love for God and will remember him for generations to come. Always on our mind and forever in our hearts.
