He was born October 14, 1955 in the Dow Hospital in Rural Precinct #6 (now part of Freeport), the second son of Frank A. Bartolomeo and Marilyn E. Bartolomeo, née Miller. He spent his early childhood in Lake Jackson, before and his family moved to Westerly, Rhode Island. They later moved to Midland, Michigan, and then to Gales Ferry, Connecticut, before returning to Lake Jackson. It was in Lake Jackson that he met his future wife, Catherine Patricia Pitre. They were wed on October 30, 1993 in St. Michael’s Church and had celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this year.
Marc had held a number of jobs over the years in companies such as Service Merchandise, Freeport Iron and Metal, and Dow Chemical. His most recent employment was at Starplex Cinema (now American Movie Cinema), where he worked for nineteen years.
Due to his living near Groton Naval Base in Connecticut in his youth, Marc developed a love and respect for the United States Navy, and also for the British Navy as well. He was deeply interested in the lore, history and culture of both. Marc was also interested in the era of the War of 1812, and in Japanese history and culture. He was very much a Trekker and a fan of the Doctor Who and Stargate series. Marc was also an avid reader and a lover of classical music.
Photography was his passion. He was a photographer for Habitat for Humanity, taking the photos of their builds as well as at their events.
Marc was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn E. Bartolomeo; and his uncle and aunt, Charles and Anna O’Rourke.
He is survived by his father, Frank A. Bartolomeo of Lake Jackson; his wife Catherine P. Bartolomeo, also of Lake Jackson; his brothers and their spouses Frank B. and Karen Bartolomeo of Westerly, Rhode Island; Stephen J. Bartolomeo and Barbara Baggett of Utopia, Texas; and Bruce and Melissa Bartolomeo of Kensington, Connecticut; his sister Elizabeth Bartolomeo of Austin, Texas; his uncle and aunt, Albert and Betty Perrino of Wilmington, Delaware; five nieces, one nephew, three nephews-in-law, and lots of cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 W. Plantation Dr. Clute, Texas 77531 on Friday January 4, 2019 starting at 1:00pm.
