Gladys “Grandma” Jane Franz Stark, 87 years old, went to her heavenly home on May 11, 2022. She passed away at the family farm in Sheridan, Arkansas, and was surrounded by her family and precious cat Miss Priscilla.
Born July 17, 1934, to her parents, Ralph David Franz and Irene Mae Ford Bolte. Gladys was married to her husband, Douglas Eugene Stark, Sr. for 62 years and 153 days. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Douglas Eugene Stark, Jr. (Debra), Darren Russell Stark and Durenda Rene’ Stark. Gladys has three granddaughters: Candace Lea Wilson (David) of Sheridan, AR, Amber Rene’ Denis (Gator) of Sheridan, AR, Sarah Kathryn Elizabeth “Katie” Beal (Clayton) of Bryan, TX, and grandson, Joshua Richard Langston (Kathy) of Bryan,TX. Gladys’s great-grandchildren are Brodie Michael Wilson, Briar Russell Wilson and Brennon Ross Wilson; Steven Mark “Chris” (Kenzie) Wheeler, Alli Rene’ Denis and Riggin Shane Denis. She has one great-great-grandson, Beau Michael Wilson. Gladys has one brother, David “Bubba” Franz and one sister, Lisa McDade, both of Hockley, TX. She is “Aunt Gladys” to many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and best friend, Lois Froehlich, beloved husband and soulmate as well as all of her children.
She devoted her life to loving her husband, caring for others and serving as the solid rock for her family. She loved tending to her house plants, gardening, sewing and preparing family meals. The family is rejoicing that Grandma is finally home with the many family members she has missed for several years.
Graveside services will be held at Peach Creek Cemetery in College Station, TX, on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 10:00 am. Arrangements are being made by Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station. Brother Daniel Taylor will officiate. Pallbearers are Johnnie “Bud” Reed, Wesley Knigge, Ray Allen Froehlich, David Wilson, Glen Earl Knigge, Gator Denis and Clayton Beal.
The family will gather at the Peach Creek Community Center afterwards. BBQ will be provided by the family, sides and desserts are appreciated.
