Ruby was born in Metcalfe County, Kentucky October 26, 1935, the daughter of Travis R and Tampa Jesse Jessie. She married James J. Spears December 11, 1951 in Burkesville, Kentucky; he preceded her in death November 6, 1993.
She was a homemaker and baby sat children in her home. She enjoyed gardening, her yard and her flowers; family was very important to her and she enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She loved old time gospel music. She was a member of Lakeview Church of Christ in Columbus.
She is survived by daughter, Brenda (Mike) Wilson of Shelbyville; son J.T. (Suzy) Spears of Terre Haute; 1 brother; 3 sisters; grandchildren, Deidra (Jeff Followell) Reed of Shelbyville, Michael (Jennifer) Wilson II of Shelbyville, Wendy (Eric) Wiegand of Terre Haute, Skyler and Regan Spears of Terre Haute; 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Patty York in 2009; 3 brothers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Mike Radcliffe officiating. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to service time. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. In keeping with CDC and Indiana guidelines, social distancing must be followed and masks are required. You may also be asked to wait outside due to the social distanced capacity of the funeral home.
