

Christina Epitropoulos passed away peacefully Saturday, March 13, 2010, with her entire family at her side. She was born March 9, 1923 in Weirton, West Virginia and was the daughter of Ernest and Sophia (Ninnios) Roumelis of Piraeus, Greece, where Christina spent much of her youth. She was a beloved wife, mother and yiayia to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Frank, and her brothers Matthew, John and George and sister Dorothy Farasopoulos.. She is survived by her brother Bill; sons, John (Alice), Ernie (Patricia), and daughter Chryssanthe (Michael) Basore; Ten grandchildren, Kristen, Katherine & George Basore, Christina & Frank Epitropoulos, Frank Thomas and Sophia Epitropoulos, Ryan, McKenna and Chalice Reilly. Christina was a breast cancer survivor for over 30 years, and the mother of the Epitropoulos twins that played football for Ohio State. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 16 from 5-8 p.m., with the Trisagion Service at 7:30 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington. The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 N. High Street, Columbus, Ohio, with Father Michael Kontos officiating. Family and friends also may be received prior to the funeral at the Cathedral at 12:30 p.m. Interment Union Cemetery.
