Elizabeth Cardwell 94, died peacefully at home Thursday April 7, 2017. Born in Middletown, Ohio; October 13, 1922 to Frank and Elizabeth Hocz. A proud first generation Hungarian. Loving wife, mother and grandmother. She lived her American dream of marrying, raising her three children, educating them to the post graduate level and seeing her grandchildren follow the same path. Remembered by hundreds of children as well as adults fore opening her home without limitation and treating all as family.
Survived by her 3 children, William Cardwell Jr, Doug Cardwell, Barbara McMillan (Dan); 6 grandchildren, Chad, Michael, Patrick, Katie Cardwell, Collin and Ethan McMillan and a younger sister, Irene Lykins.
Her husband, William Cardwell Sr. preceded her in death but their marriage lasted nearly 60 years. A life together filled with travel to many communities for work purposes allowing exploration of vast areas of the continental US. Curiosity and a quest for knowledge was the driving force to visiting national parks and as many points of interest as time allowed throughout her travels.
Elizabeth embodied the values of God, Family and Country during a life well lived. She will be remembered fondly by many. A family celebration of life is planned and burial in Middletown with her husband is planned in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association in her honor would be appreciated. Family has entrusted SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL with final arrangements.
