Born on July 5, 1935 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Preston Lail and Anna Pearl Hefner Lail.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by five sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy Lail; sons, Billy Joe Lail and wife, Deanna, and Kenneth Lee Dennis; daughter, Margaret Lail; brother, Gaither Lail and twin brother, Bobby Lail; sister, Frances Drum; grandchildren, Jason, Ricky, Brittany, and James; and great-grandchildren, Chandler, Kaylee, and Saylee.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. until 2 p.m.
