Juanita G. Leal, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother “GiGi” peacefully passed away on August 21, 2023, in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Jourdanton, Texas on October 18, 1926, to Abraham and Eloisa Garcia.
She was a woman of many virtues, but her resilience was the one that made the most impact to those around her. She had a sweet disposition and a gentle nature that endeared her to all. She never lost her bright spirit or sense of humor. She always looked for the best in people and her kind heart made her GiGi to everyone she met. The kind of love she gave was without condition. She was an amazing GiGi who spoiled her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love and kindness. She loved to fish, garden, play dominoes, but most of all, to play Chalupa “Loteria” with her family. We will keep her memory alive by cherishing the values she instilled in us and by following her example of strength, courage, and most importantly, unconditional love.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving sisters and brother, her husband, Francisco G. Leal, her daughter, Mary Esther Rodriguez, her son, Joe Leal, and her grandson, Pete Rodriguez Jr.
Left to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy are her children, Francisco “Frank” Leal Jr., Alicia Guillen (Othon), Elida Carmona (David), and Mary Jane Autry; her sister Dora Flores; and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to thank all the compassionate people who assisted with the care of our beloved GiGi and who have supported us with calls, visits, prayers, and food. We are overwhelmed by the love shown to us during this difficult time.
Family will receive friends at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service and A Holy Rosary will begin at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
