Madeline was a long time resident of St. Albans. She devoted her life to her husband, Bethel Hensley, and their children. You could always find her side by side with Bethel on every project. From building decks, to roof repair, she was always there to lend a hand. Her individual talents were many, including quilting, spending many hours designing and hand sewing beautiful patterns she personally selected for each family member in mind. It brought her great joy to pass each one on. It was her way of leaving a piece of herself with each loved one. She also made beautiful pine needle baskets, and at the age of 95, she started a new craft, Diamond Painting. Everything she did was done with pride and purpose and brought her joy to share.

Madeline and Bethel also loved traveling, and bluegrass music. They spent years enjoying the festivals and made many lifelong friends. They enjoyed these travels together of 15 years. She was loved and cherished and will be missed.

Madeline was preceded in death by her twin sister, Geraldine Bryan; brother, Garland Patterson; and husband, Bethel Hensley.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Drema Moomau, of Greenville, Virginia, Pam Callahan, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, and Cindy Gillespie, of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Jeremy Morrison, Stacy Morrison, Tyler Gillespie, and Sierra Denning; great-grandchildren, Amber Morrison, Nolan Morrison, Luna Halprin, and Jaden Lewis; and a brother, Carl Patterson.

AÑADIR UN RECUERDO

Her strength and dedication were her strongest attributes. I sat talking with her just before her 97th birthday approached. I asked her what it feels like to have lived on this earth that many years. She thought about it a bit and replied in amazement"97!???!! That's old isn't it? Well, I have no regrets so I guess I am ok with it." Pondered a bit more and said, "I guess I am just to old to feel old". She lived everyday as if it were brand new. She never gave up and just carried on no matter what age or disease tried to do to her. Her strength and dedication never waivered. She got up each day and greeted you with a smile and happy good morning. Nothing got her down or ever would. She had a way about her that just never gave up, not on herself or anyone she loved. She is the definition of perseverance.
