Mary Catherine Grubbs

Mary, or Mary Catherine as she was known by many, was born in Forney, Texas. She would have been 98 years old in July.

Mary Catherine was raised by her aunts Gertrude Stitzle and Louise Wilkins after losing her mother at a very early age.

Mary Catherine is survived by children: daughter, Nora C. Grubbs, sons, Dr. Donald W. Grubbs and John R. Grubbs, and their respective spouses Bruce Jean, Tina Grubbs, and Alisha Grubbs, as well as her daughter-in-law Evelyn Grubbs.

She had 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Mary Catherine was predeceased by her eldest son Ernest and second son Ronald, as well as her half-brother Buddy Stitzle and her husband of 77 years, Ernest L. Grubbs who passed only six months prior.

She was a die-hard Cowboys fan and, until her poor health precluded it, very active in The Knights of Columbus, now defunct Alhambra, and Elks and was a regular on bingo nights. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Due to flowers not being allowed in the chapel, the family suggests a contribution to a charity of your choice as a remembrance.

Cognizant of the ongoing virus concerns, the family understands that some might prefer to honor our mother’s passing in private.
