CAMPBELL, Jean Margaret - Age 92, died July 9, 1917, at Melville Lodge, Halifax. She was the daughter of the late Ross and Lily (Wier) Campbell. A life-long resident of Dartmouth, she was employed for some 20 years with the Province of Nova Scotia. She was proud that her mother had been one of the first women secretaries hired by the Province, and pleased that both she and her niece Margaret had carried on the tradition of working for the provincial government. After her father’s death, she was caregiver to her mother for over 20 years, until the latter’s death at the age of 102. Jean was a life-long and devoted member of St. James United Church, Dartmouth. She is survived by nieces Margaret Campbell (Halifax), Beverley Howell (Toronto), and Elaine Sloan (Victoria); and nephews Hugh and Robert (Ottawa) and John (Collingwood, ON). She was predeceased by her older brothers Robert, Bruce and John. The family would like to thank the staff at Melville Lodge for their kind and compassionate care during the past five years. Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 28, at 11.00 am, in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth. Memorial donations may be made to St. James United Church, Dartmouth.
