Robert B. Campbell was born July 2, 1944 to Beatrice and Albert in Hartsville, SC. He was
the second of three children, his oldest brother James (deceased) and his baby sister
Dorothy “Dot.” After marrying Emily Deary of San Antonio, TX they became parents to
Robert Jr., Cornelius, Malcom, and Porshai. Robert, also known as “Soup,” enjoyed gardening
with one of his best friend’s James Perry. Another activity he loved ‘come rain or shine’ was
fishing with his other best friend Gunny Howard (deceased.) He was a generous person that
always helped his family and friends in time of need. After graduating from Butler High
School Robert honorably served in the United States Air Force for 24 years as a radar
technician and traveled to four different continents. When his daughter Porshai asked him
which country he enjoyed living in the most he chuckled and responded, “England because
they speak English!”
