Larry Michael “Mickey” Teate, Sr., age 76, of Douglasville, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022. He was born in Royston, Georgia on November 21, 1945, the son of the late Hoyt Teate and the late Addie Rea Sartain Teate. After high school Mickey served in the United States Coast Guard. Most recently, Larry worked as a service writer for Hondaville.
Mickey was an avid fisherman. He also collected coins and baseball cards. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. Years ago, he and some of his buddies had a band in which Mickey played his hands. He enjoyed tinkering with things and would try to fix anything. He realized he was not a great handyman so he would phone a friend to come bail him out! In turn, Mickey would drop everything to go help a friend in need. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Norma Bryant; and his sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Teate.
Mickey is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Pearson Teate; his daughter and son-in-law, Aimee Cardoza and her husband, Brian; son, Larry “Michael” Teate, Jr.; two grandchildren, Ansley Cardoza and Andersen Cardoza; brother, Winston Teate; and lots of cousins.
The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Monday, June 6, 2022 beginning at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 12:00 Noon in Rosehaven’s Chapel with Pastor Keith Moore officiating.
In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated and will be inurned in Rosehaven Cemetery at a later date.
