Margaret Griffin Gainey

Mrs. Margaret Griffin Gainey, 94, died Friday, January 20, 2017 at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunn, North Carolina. Margaret was born in Sampson County, North Carolina on July 25, 1922 the daughter of the late Evander and Lena Harris Griffin and is preceded in death by her husband Johnny Earl Gainey, her brothers Harold Griffin, Charles Griffin and James Griffin and her sisters Louretta Norris and Helen House. Margaret was a wonderful homemaker, and served other families through her skills as a nursing assistant. She enjoyed spending time at home and being with her church family. She was the oldest member of Long Branch PFWB Church and was selected "Woman of the Year" in 1995. She loved providing for others and most of all being with her family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, January 23, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Long Branch PFWB Church in Dunn, NC with Rev. Phillip Newton, Rev. Elvin Butts and Rev. Brandon Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Devotional Gardens Memorial Park. She is survived by: Daughters: Annie Ruth Jackson of Dunn, NC and Brenda Pierce and husband Howard of Fleetwood, NC Sons: Robert Gainey and wife Janette of Barstow CA, and Steve Gainey and wife Annie of Lillington, NC 9 Grandchildren: 28 Great Grandchildren: 10 Great Great Grandchildren: Sister: Lena Betts of Newton Grove, NC Brothers: David Griffin of Dunn, NC and Jimmy Griffin and wife Joyce of Graham, NC. The Family will receive friends Monday, January 23, 2017 from 1:00 pm till 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service in Long Branch PFWB Church and other times at the home of Annie Ruth Jackson.
