He graduated from North High School and then went to work at L&N Railroad at the age of 18. Larry then went to work for CSX Railroad where he was a locomotive engineer for 36 years. He was the owner of Stemaly Excavating. Larry enjoyed watching sports on TV, hunting, fishing, gardening, and going to his cabin at Barkley Lake.
Larry is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Marilyn (Southwood) Stemaly; son, Jeff Stemaly of Evansville; daughter, Robin Van Hoy (Michael) of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Sean Stemaly of Nashville, TN, Jordan Van Hoy of Durham, NC, and Nicholas Van Hoy of Madison, WI; sister, Norma Sims of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
A Private Family Service will be held. Friends may visit on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel. The service will be livestreamed at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at www.Facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA.
