

Thomas “Tom” D. Ancona, Sr., 87, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born July 18, 1928, in Evansville to the late Astley Cooper and Myrtle (Drain) Ancona.
He was a US Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. Tom worked for Gray Properties for 52 years as a property manager, following in his father’s footsteps; Astley also worked for Gray Properties for 53 years. He was a lifetime member of Bethel United Church of Christ, where for 49 years he portrayed Simon in their Lenten production of The Last Supper, as well as serving in many other capacities within the church. He was a kind, generous, faithful servant; a true pillar of the church. Tom served on the board at Good Samaritan Home, was a member of the Rotary Club, enjoyed playing golf and simply loved being outdoors.
Tom is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Ancona; sons, Thomas D. (Donna) Ancona, Jr. and John C. Ancona; grandchildren, James and Chelsea Ancona; brothers, Astley Cooper (Harriet) Ancona II of Lake Jackson, TX, Edgar D. (Barbara) Ancona; four nieces, two nephews and his best friend of 87 years Paul J. Carnes.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Bethel United Church of Christ, officiated by Rev. Joe Schulte, Rev. Don Bernhardt and Rev. Carlos Haskins. A private burial was held in Oak Hill Cemetery.
