

Mr. Wetzel proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from AT&T, formerly Southwestern Bell after 40 years, working as a lineman, cable supervisor, garage supervisor, and fiber optic tech supervisor. He was also a member of the AT&T Pioneers and an avid golfer. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Florence, nee Metzler , Wetzel; and two brothers, Lee Wetzel and his twin, Wayne Wetzel.
Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Helen Wetzel, nee Thompson of Belleville, Ill.; his children, Ronald Wetzel of Waterloo, Ill., Randy (Susan) Wetzel of Florissant, Mo., Robert Wetzel of Dallas Texas, and Sharron (Ralph) Lamely of Fort Myers, Fla.; his grandchildren, Heather (David) Minnick, Kelly (Dan) Weirich, Ryan (Lauren Henke) Wetzel, Rachel Wetzel, Mason Wetzel, Shane Lamely, and Derek Lamely; his two great-grandchildren, Landon and Cameron; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral: Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
