OBITUARIO

James Carroll Ginn

2 septiembre , 19303 mayo , 2019

James Carroll Ginn, age 88, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Broward Health Medical Center after a brief hospitalization. At the time of his passing, he was in the hearts of those he loved the most.

Born in Lelia Lake, Texas, James was the son of the late Walter and Geneva (Whatley) Ginn. He was a graduate of Bentonville, Arkansas High School. James honorably served his country in the United States Army and the Army National Guard. James was a truck driver for 30 years, working for Motive Parts Warehouse and then Rheem. After driving for three million miles, he found a position where he could be at home more by working in the main office of J.B. Hunt Transport from 1982-1996. His duties included starting their Driver Training School and working in their Safety Department. After moving to a farm outside of Bentonville, AR with his family in 1943 , James lived in Fort Smith, AR from 1951-1976, then back to Bentonville from 1976-2019. He relocated to Fort Lauderdale earlier this year to be near his son. Not content to be idle, James also raised beef cattle on his farm from 1977-2005.

James is survived by his wife, Martha Ellen (Neighbors) Ginn; his son, David Carroll Ginn, MD of Fort Lauderdale; his brothers, John Ginn of Gravette, AR and Jack Ginn of LaPlata, MD; his sisters, Dr. Mary Lea Ginn of Cincinnati, OH, Vera Howard of Rogers, AR, and Ruby Watkins of Rogers, AR. He was predeceased by his sister, Wanda Root, of Flint, MI.

James enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, working on his farm and in his shop, and traveling. Between truck driving and family vacations, he visited 49 states plus Canada and Mexico. James was a Christian who loved studying the Bible and attending church, including Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Smith and First Baptist Church of Centerton, Arkansas. His pleasant personality, sense of humor, dedication to his family, and smile will be remembered. We were blessed that James and Ellen celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary last November.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

My deepest condolences to the family. Jim hired me as an instructor at the J B Hunt Driver Training Center in Lowell back in 1990 and will always be a benchmark in my life. There was never a question that his character and his commitment were as a result of his deep faith. I am a better human as a result of his presence.

It is a honor and a blessing to have had the opportunity to know James the last year and 1/2 of his life. I smile every time I think about him and the conversations we would have in the wee hours of the morning! Something would catch his eye and he would get up out of his chair and I would say "where are you going James?" and he would say "over yonder" and I would say "can I come with you?" and he would say "why YES!"... and we would walk around the house and he would talk about all the paintings and pictures and whatever else caught his eye.... He was such a kind, gentle and loving soul.... I picture him in Heaven going "over yonder" with Jesus by his side, having a perfect body and mind... I miss him every day and am so blessed to have had the opportunity to know him and I look forward to seeing him again some day.
