John Henry Wilburn

John Henry Wilburn, Sr., age 80, of Rainbow City, AL passed away on July 10, 2022. Funeral services will be 12:30 pm Friday, July 15, 2022 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Hooks officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until the hour of service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Rainbow Memorial Gardens, 1440 West Grand Avenue, Gadsden, AL 35904.

Arrangements are under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral Home.

Mr. Wilburn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a Boy Scout Leader in Rainbow City for many years. Mr. Wilburn worked for ALDOT and worked for Alabama Tool and Die for over 35 years and worked for Dixie Tool. He was a Ham Radio enthusiast and a member of the Gadsden amateur Radio Club. He volunteered with the Civil Defense for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Bert and Bertha Wilburn; sister, Hattie Harmon; brother, James Wilburn, Jr.; granddaughter, Teri Hartsfield Colvin; and great-grandson, Owen Colvin.

Mr. Wilburn is survived by his very loving wife of 58 years, Sarah Wilburn; son, John Wilburn, Jr.; daughters, Michele (David) Stovall and Melissa (John) Hartsfield; grandchildren, John Matthew Wilburn, Jessica Wyatt, Cynthia Moreland, Eric Willingham, Jeff Williams, Bennett Williams; Andy Hartsfield, and Jonathan Hartsfield; great-grandchildren, Paige Wyatt, Henry Wyatt, Ethan Moreland, Bella Willingham, Mason Colvin, Sydney Colvin, and Nathan Colvin; brothers, George Wilburn and Tommy Wilburn; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Williams, Bennett Williams, Eric Willingham, John Matthew Wilburn, Thom Wyatt and Mason Colvin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Moreland, Dewayne Colvin, and Stephen Fuller.

The family would like to thank Dr. Karl Uy, the Drs. And staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center; Staff with Southern Care New Beacon Hospice, and Staff with Kindred at Home, especially, Holly Leath, Sarah Hancock and Hannah Thrasher.
