Theresa Marie Pendergist passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at her home in Independence, MO. She was born on April 18, 1950 in North Kansas City, MO to the late William “Billy” Spurgeon and Bonnie McGehee Spurgeon Nichols.
Theresa was the beloved wife of the late Roy H. Pendergist, Jr. She was the loving mother of R.H. Pendergist, III and Joseph A. Pendergist. Theresa was the proud grandmother of Rhea, Roy IV, Brett, Stephan, and Victoria.
After graduating from North Kansas City High School in May of 1968, Theresa attended and completed courses at the Kansas City Business College. She also attended State Fair Community College and Missouri Valley College. Theresa was raised in the church. Her father, Billy, was a licensed Assembly of God Minister as was her grandmother, Rebecca Ellen Cain Spurgeon. Rebecca hosted the Christian radio program, “The Family Alter”.
