Nancy Jane Bartlett Anderies, age 94, of Grand Junction, passed away on May 31, 2021. For the past several years she resided at BeeHive Homes Assisted Living, experiencing the progressive effects of dementia.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1927, she was the daughter of Ralph J. Bartlett, prosecuting attorney and later judge, and Mary J. Seidensticker, an accomplished musician who died in childbirth when Nancy was just three years old. She had an older brother, Bill, a younger sister, Mickey, and a younger half-sister, June, all of whom preceded her in death. She attended Capital University and graduated from the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in 1949. Traveling with sister Mickey “out west” to see their brother at Colorado School of Mines, the sisters fell in love with Colorado’s blue skies and both ended up staying for the rest of their lives.

Taking her first job as a pharmacist at Jackson Drug Co. in Denver, Nancy met her future husband William J. Anderies while working the soda fountain. Their first date was to a Denver Symphony Orchestra concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater and they were engaged a few weeks later. Nancy and Bill raised five children, four born in Denver, and one born in Grand Junction, where they had moved in the 1960s for Bill’s career.

Nancy had a long and distinguished career as a pharmacist and medical administrator, working for Gavin’s Pharmacy and the Grand Junction Regional Center. She continued to volunteer at Marillac Clinic after she retired and had previously been involved with American Field Service and the local disability advocacy group Citizens on Wheels. Nancy loved growing roses and was a member of the Grand Valley Rose Society. She took great care researching family history and creating photo albums. Her date cake recipe was legendary. She was a devout and long-time parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Nancy was a devoted and generous friend to many, and she always found room for one more at the dinner table.

Nancy was preceded in death by husband Bill in 2010 following his declining health due to Parkinson’s. She is survived by children Joe (Julie), Mary (Lee), Jane (Robin), David (Donna), and John (Jimmy); by grandchildren Travis (Indira), Kristen (Rick), Trevor (Alina), Corey, Erin, Kyle (Savannah), Katie, and Elaine (Hugh); and by great grandchildren Brandon, Myah, Jaxon, Cameron, Rose, and Felicity.

A Catholic rosary prayer service will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Rd., at 7 pm on Friday, June 11. A funeral Mass will be said at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 230 N 3rd St., at 11 am on Saturday, June 12. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to MarillacHealth (

My mother was Dr. Anna D. Miklos and she was the Clinical Director at the State Home and Training School in Grand Junction. She and Nancy were friends for 35 + years. We would go to the Anderies house for birthday and holiday celebrations. I will fondly remember those days forever!!

Nancy and I share a lot of memories. We worked together at the Grand Junction Regional Center until she retired. For many years she was my friend and also became my boss. I was working there when she first started working part time.

My deepest sympathy to the family and I will keep you in my prays
May God bless
