Mae Wynell Schmidli was born to Myrtle Hice on January 11, 1934 in Ennis Texas.
She moved with her mother to Pueblo, Colorado at a young age, stopping along the way so her mother could pick cotton to finance their trip.
In high school she met and married the love of her life, Karl Schmidli. Together they raised four children. In the early years she was a home maker while Karl went to college and taught junior high to keep the family fed. Later they moved to Melbeta Nebraska where Karl was superintendent of schools, and she the school secretary.
They settled in Greeley, Colorado in 1967. She served as church secretary for Greeley Christian Church for many years. She played the organ, accordian, and had a beautiful singing voice. She encouraged her children in everything they did and was their greatest supporter.
She touched the lives and hearts of all those who met her. Her smile was bright and her laugh infectious. She was an excellent seamstress, sometimes to the chagrin of her daughters when she dressed them just alike. She was a fierce believer in the Lord and taught us all salvation. Her bible was well worn, with notes in all the margins.
She is survived by her children, Chuck (Shirley) of Littleton, Nanette Craft of Denver, Micki (David) Channin of Eaton, and Julie (Dean) Schmidli of Parker. Her brother Ron (Jane) Bennet of London England and uncle, Mel Summrall of Denton Texas.10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Stoddard Funeral Home.
