

She attended Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church
She was born October 1, 1925 to John and Wonnie Shelton in Madison County, North Carolina. After graduating Mosheim High School, she volunteered to go to Washington, DC where she worked as a filing clerk for the FBI. Upon her return to her parent’s home in Greene County she decided to enroll in Knoxville Women’s Business College. It was there she started writing to a service man, Charles W. Uhe, who was referred to her by her brother, James. On November 5, 1948, she was married to Charles, her pen pal through the end of World War II and the Korean War. In 1948, they moved to Pinckneyville, Illinois where she worked most of her adult life in the garment business. The Union Label selected her as part of a group to travel to New York to cut a commercial. In 1996, she moved to Greeneville to be near family.
Survivors include a special adopted son and daughter-in-law: Earl Ray and Priscilla Shelton; three special grandchildren and their spouses: Bronson and Rebecca Shelton, Cindy and Archie Monroe, Jill and Kendall Parton; three loving great grandchildren: Jadyn Shelton, Connor Shelton, and Wade Parton; brother and sister-in-law: Harold “Pete” and Louise Shelton; sister: Joyce Swatzell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years: Charles W. Uhe; parents: John and Wonnie Shelton; and siblings and spouses: James and Wanda Shelton, Fred and Irene Shelton, Paul and Nellie Voiles, Dayton and Grace Shelton, Tom Swatzell, Bill and Jeanette Jeffers, and James and Mace Shelton Morgan.
The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 8pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bobby Morrison and Rev. Kevin Shelton officiating.
Interment will be at 2pm Tuesday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30pm Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bronson Shelton, Kendall Parton, Archie Monroe, Blaine Shelton, Wayne Shelton, and Willie Voiles.
