Josephine Rose Szul

SZUL, Josephine R. Oct. 18, 2015 Age 89 Beloved wife of the late Walter. Dear mother of Theresa Kushner (the late James), Lorraine Leon (Robert), Joan Alam (Joseph), Marie Molewski (Danny), Cathy Howell (the late King) and Wally Szul. Loving grandmother of James, Jennifer, Jamie, Jeffrey, Kevin, Christopher, Michael, Joseph, and the late Jodie. Great-grandmother of Brendan, Ashton, Sarah, Kendall, Kellan, and Gabriel. Visitation Wednesday 2-9 pm with a Rosary 7 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. In state Thursday 9:30 am until time of funeral Mass 10 am at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 23401 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice. Mrs. Szul was born in Detroit in 1926, the daughter of Joseph and Caroline Gorczyca, She was married to her beloved Walter until his death in 1978. Josephine was a long-time member of St. Lucy Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores where she volunteered her time and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Dearborn Chapter #75. Mrs. Szul had a green thumb and demonstrated her talent by receiving beautification awards from both the city and her condo association She enjoyed cooking, making jewelry, crafting and sewing. Over the years Josephine would travel to Florida, Texas and Hawaii visiting her children and her family. Her miniature dachshund Charlie was always at her feet. She looked forward to her girls weekends with her daughters and days spent at the cottage of her son Wally on Portage Lake.
