Leo John Wenzinger, 88, passed away on May 24, 2026. Born on October 14, 1937, Leo lived a life marked by steady purpose, deep devotion to those he loved, and a generosity that showed itself in the way he gave of his time and energy—again and again, without seeking recognition.
Leo graduated from Lawrence High School in 1955 and went on to attend an electronics trade school in Omaha, Nebraska. From the beginning, he approached life with an honest, practical determination—learning what he needed to learn, doing what needed to be done, and doing it well.
Over the course of his working life, Leo was known for his remarkable work ethic. He worked two jobs for most of his career, yet he never allowed responsibility to narrow his world. He carried a true zest for life, balancing hard work with a spirit of adventure and a willingness to embrace what was new, challenging, and worth doing.
An entrepreneur at heart, Leo started and owned many companies over his life. He built with persistence and integrity, and those who knew him recognized in him a selfless steadiness—someone who could be relied upon, someone who kept his word, and someone whose efforts were often directed toward the well-being of others as much as his own.
Family was truly important to Leo. His devotion was not loud or performative; it was constant, expressed through presence, loyalty, and the quiet ways he showed up for the people who mattered most. In that devotion, he became deeply beloved.
Leo’s interests reflected the breadth of his curiosity and the boldness of his spirit. He found joy in desert Baja dune buggies, autocross, water skiing, and sailing all over the world. He even drove a rail car across North America—an experience that captured his readiness to take the long way, the interesting way, and the memorable way.
Leo J. Wenzinger will be remembered with respect for the life he built through hard work, for the honesty with which he lived, and for the generous, devoted, and adventurous spirit that remained with him throughout his years. He leaves behind a legacy of steadfast love and enduring admiration.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eula; and brother, Wayne “Twig”.
Leo is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Gloria; daughters, Elizabeth Carver and Melissa Wenzinger; granddaughters, Sarah (Todd) Standinger, Jennifer (Eric) Reiser, and Payton Schmitzer and Ally Schmitzer; great-grandsons, Elijah Wagner and Robert “Gus” Standinger; great-granddaughter, Charley Reiser; sister, Karen Wersal; brother, Jim Wenzinger; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY, 4242 Hoover Rd., Grove City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3730 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123. Entombment St. Joseph Cemetery.
