

Hamshaw (Rodgers) Edith Lillian – 98, passed away in Drummond Hall, Parkland Estates, after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Eva (Bartle) Rodgers. She was a lifelong resident of Halifax and a survivor of the Halifax Explosion. In her early years Edith was employed with MT & T (Bell Aliant) as chief operator of the Toll office on North St., Halifax. She retired after 33 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Edith and her husband Dennis enjoyed travelling across Canada and the USA in their motor home, spending winters months in their residence on Anna Maria Island, Florida and summers at their cottage in Kearney Lake. Edith is survived by sisters Ruby Catalano, Phyllis Stapleton of British Columbia; Shirley Rodgers, Halifax; Joyce (Wally) Ferguson and Bill (Shirley) Rodgers of Dartmouth; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Dennis, sisters Rita Foston, Joan Forhan, Renie Rodgers; brothers John(Buster) and Howard Rodgers. A memorial service will be held 11 am Tuesday August 23, in Cruikshanks Funeral Home 2666 Windsor St. Halifax. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lr. Sackville. No flowers by request.
