

Opal Lee Johnson, age 93 of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was born on January 18, 1920 in Estill County, KY, the daughter of the late Walter D. and Virginia A. (Powell) Johnson. On September 25, 1937 in Liberty, IN, Opal married her husband of over 47 years, H. Houston “Zeke” Johnson, and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1984. She was a paper sorter at Beckett Paper for 29 years before retiring, and a former owner of Johnson Service Station in Millville. Opal was a member of Arlington Church of Christ in Mt. Healthy. She is survived by her granddaughters, Dianne (Randy) Northcutt and Susan (Teri) Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Leanne Northcutt and Eli Campbell; “adopted son,” Pete (Shirley) Stewart; and special friends, Barbara Colvin and David Caron. Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Carol C. Shaffer; and siblings, Leo V. Johnson and Hazel Johnson. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 7pm at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street in Hamilton with Chaplain David L. Zeigler officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 11am at Millville Cemetery in Hamilton. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Opal’s name to Butler County Care Facility, 1800 Princeton Road, Hamilton, OH 45011.
