

Harlingen – Annie (Anna) Krafka, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2016, at La Hacienda Healthcare, where she had been a resident since 2004. She was born April 9, 1922, in Platte Center, Nebraska. She moved to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas with her family in the mid 1930s. She graduated from both Harlingen Business College and Durham Business College. After working at Niagara Chemical, she worked at the Harlingen Gunnery School. Beginning in the 1950s, she worked as a civilian clerk typist at the old Harlingen Air Force Base, until its close in 1962. Annie was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna Krafka; her brothers, Charles, Rudolph, John Jr., Edward, Henry, Joseph, Jerry, and Emil; her sisters, Helen Zemek, and Jean Marie Prunty; and two infant siblings. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, June 6th, from 9 AM to 11 AM at Funeraria Del Angel in Harlingen. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Kindred Gentiva Hospice Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
