
Born November 5, 1917 in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Harry and Estella (Heisler) Nicholas.
She attended local public schools and was proud of her record of twelve years of perfect attendance.
Mrs. Schell retired from the Legislative Reference Bureau in the State Capitol.
She was very active in the beginning years of both of St. Catherine Laboure Church and the Lawnton American Legion Post 998, holding several offices in each. She was also the first President of St. Catherine's Parent Teacher Organization and the last charter member of Legion Post 998, having served for fifty-seven years.
She and Mr. Lutz moved to Ruskin, Florida in 1978, where Mrs. Lutz became involved in park activities and the Florida Mobile Home Association and served as the Hillsborough County Secretary. One year she was honored as a Mayor.
Oil painting and poetry writing were her hobbies. Several of her poems have been published.
She was the widow of Richard Schell and Walter Lutz.
Surviving are 2 sons, Richard Schell and his companion, Wilma Hackenberger of Lockhaven, Charles Schell and his wife Lynn of Harrisburg; 2 daughters, Janice DeDonatis and her husband Anthony , Sr. of Elizabethtown, Suzanne Johnston and her husband Ronald of Leesburg, FL. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild to cherish her memory.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg, PA 17111.
There will be a visitation from 10 AM to 11 AM, Saturday at the Church.
Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church or the American Cancer Society, 3211 N. Front St., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
Auer Cremation Services of Pennsylvania, Inc. will be handling the arrangements.
