Nathan E Daugherty, 53, of Hanover, PA, lost his 13 year battle with leukemia on Thursday, December 19,2024. He passed away peacefully at home under the care of his loving wife.
Born in Hanover on July 13,1971 to Gary and Diane Daugherty of Musselman Rd, Nathan was a graduate of Southwestern High School and a resident of Hanover his whole life.
Nathan is survived by his wife of 28 years, Angela M Daugherty, daughter Morgan R Neal, along with her husband Robert B Neal, and daughter, Meghan R Daugherty. He is also survived by his parents, Gary and Diane Daugherty and his 3 siblings and their families: Hilary Cook, Melany Boatwright, and Aaron Daugherty.
Nathan worked for Ruhlman Brothers Inc. from the age of 14. He loved being outside and the satisfaction of a job well done. In addition to his secular work, he was privileged to use his skills in concrete to help construct parking areas, curbing, and sidewalks for Kingdom Halls, Assembly Halls, and Bethel facilities owned by Jehovah’s Witnesses over the years.
Nathan loved family trips to places like Raystown Lake, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and Disney World in Florida. Time with family and good friends put a big smile on his face. In his younger years, he spent his recreation time engaged in sports like wallyball, skiing, and golf. He also was happy to host a congregation picnic every summer, grilling up burgers and hotdogs for all the friends.
The thing that brought Nathan the most happiness was serving the congregation. Nathan was an Elder in the Lake Marburg Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He spent countless hours in various capacities, from Congregation Secretary and Accounts Servant, to visiting the sick as part of the Patient Visitation Group. Over the years, he delivered many public discourses locally and in neighboring congregations.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 5 Paradise Court, Hanover, Pa on Sunday, January 5,2025 at 4pm. The discourse is to be given by Elder Steve Reinhart. Due to limited space, a second location will be tied in via Zoom conferencing at the Spring Grove Kingdom Hall located at 1595 Jefferson Rd, Spring Grove, Pa.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful care teams at Amedisys Hospice and Cancer Care of York, who took such compassionate care of Nathan for so many years.
