DeAnne Doane 82, passed away on July 27, 2024, in Houston, Texas after a lengthy battle with multiple illnesses. She was born in Houston, Texas on March 24, 1942, to Monterrey and James Leslie Murphy. She was in the Bellaire High School Class of 1960 and later attended Sam Houston University, with a major in Business Education.
DeAnne lived in Houston most of her life with the exception of having an apartment in New York for many years for the convenience of business travel. She traveled the world for both business and pleasure. She was in every state in the United States, most countries and even the Middle East (Doah, Qatar) for the sale of a refinery. Among her many professional associations were The International Real Estate Institute, Pension Real Estate Association and Urban Land Institute.
Most of DeAnne's life was devoted to her career. After having her own business raising institutional equity, she became involved from the very beginning with The Houstonian, a $30 million Hotel and Health Club where she raised the initial working capital to build their facility.
Her many Houston business accomplishments included raising capital for an Initial Public Offering to acquire health clubs. As part of the acquisition team, Deanne closed the subsidiary's largest acquisition. DeAnne was instrumental in creating the Phoenix Spa from the design phase to obtaining most of the major investors.
Later, DeAnne was recruited by Stewart Title Guaranty Company to take them from a Texas title company to a national title company. She did this by developing her institutional clients in major U.S. markets, especially in the Northeast. DeAnne closed a $10 billion real estate transaction (the sale of the worldwide real estate assets of The Prudential Insurance Company, the largest to date in the title industry. She also spearheaded international projects in Eastern Europe, Mexico, Latin America and the United Kingdom.
De Anne's joy in life was her many pets, friends and clients. She was a loyal and loving friend, always ready to lend a helping hand. She was also very adventuresome and generous, especially with her time and experience.
After her retirement, she developed her creative side that she did not realize she had. She began sculpting, painting and eventually started a business called Antique Restorations, even doing restorations for the television series, Antiques Roadshow.
DeAnne always had a great love for animals, and she always said she would devote the last one quarter of her life to animals, which she did. She had trunk shows for upscale pet clothing and accessories at Saks Fifth Avenue and Tootsies, as well as canine fashion shows on television talk shows and for charitable events.
In spite of her busy schedule, DeAnne was very involved in her community. She helped raise funds for many local charities such as Special Olympics, and The Escape Center (for abused children). DeAnne was on the Board of Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) for many years and through her involvement with their Capital Campaign Committee, helped raise the capital to build a new $6 million animal shelter.
DeAnne was preceded in death by her mother and father and many loving Dachshunds. She is survived by many devoted friends and clients.
