John D. Laird, Sr., age 89, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013. He served his country honorably in the Navy, and then retired from the US Post Office after 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Laird; son, John D. Laird, Jr.; daughters, Cathy Smith and husband Marshall, Ernestine Guajardo and husband David, and Paticia Ann Laird; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Laird and wife Nell; sister, Betty Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2013 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jay Smith, John Edward Laird, Jonathan Guajardo, David Guajardo, Jr., David Guajardo, Sr., and Jason Whippo.
