

Memorial service with Holy Eucharist for Michael D. Stewart, 60, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at The Episcopal Church of St. Simon and St. Jude. Burial will follow in the Celtic Cross Gardens. The Reverend Mark A. Abdelnour will be officiating. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family.
Michael passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017. Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, he was a son of the late CMDR John Stewart (U.S.C.G., Ret.) and Lillian Ipock Stewart. He was a graduate of Wando High School, Trident Technical College and attended St. Andrews Presbyterian College before joining and graduating from the IBM Analyst Program at Vocational Rehab in West Columbia, SC. Michael worked for C&S Bank and also Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance where he was a computer programmer/analyst. Michael’s greatest accomplishment was being a father to his daughter, Sarah Anne Stewart.
Surviving in addition to his daughter, are Sarah’s mother and step-father, Joanne and Jim McLaughlin; his sister, Judy Stewart Grantham and Steve of Tullahoma, TN; brother-in-law, Ron Hauptfleisch of Rochester, New York; nephew, Chris and wife, Elise Hauptfleisch of Rochester, New York; niece, Virginia and husband, Ryan Collins of Atlanta, GA.; two Great-Nieces, Evvy Hauptfleisch and Taylor Collins. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Edward Stewart and a sister Susan Stewart Hauptfleisch.
