Glenda Kay Mudd

Mom graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1966. While not a formal student at any College or University she informally attended Alvin Community College, Houston Community College, Lone Star Community College, Wharton Community College, the University of Houston, University of Phoenix, Texas A & M College Station, Texas Woman’s University and the University of Seventh Day Adventist. Her daughter, grand-children, friends of her grand-children and many nephews have the degrees to prove her abundance of intelligence and skilled writing ability. Nothing less would be expected from the “SMARTEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD” as she would force you to say in lieu of payment for every English and writing assignment completed.

Mom now has to many honorary degrees to mention but this does validate she truly was the “SMARTEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD.”

Glenda was preceded in death by her father, David Leon Luna and mother, Sara Jane Hoose who told everyone she was to mean to die but finally gave in and after a brief negotiation was finally able to convince God that she was worth the risk. Since the devil refused her entrance this would have left her in limbo thus creating a very awkward situation. The family is happy this was finally resolved. In addition, she was preceded in death by her sister’s Linda and Shirley Luna and brother/sister Jimmy Hoose.

She is survived by her daughter, Major Angella Mudd, USAFR, NC and her husband Edward Ware, adopted daughter Gema Ramirez, grand-children Kristen, Isabel, Francesco, Abriana, Hayden, Chelsea and Christopher great-grandchildren Ashlynn, Bailey, Claire, Charlotte, Skylar Sylas and her puppy Coffee.

Angella Mudd and her family would like to express sincere gratitude to Grace Care of Katy and Hospice with Grace for the care and compassion shown her mother. They all supported our family through this journey over the last 6 months. The nurses, nursing assistants, physical therapists, house keepers and residents who loved my mother will never be forgotten.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday May 16th at 6 p.m. at Katy Funeral Homes where she was also employed as a receptionist. She loved this job and frequently told us “they were dying to see her”. We will remember her crazy sense of humor and wonderful personality and share many tears and hugs. She has requested that her service be filled with laughter and stories she wanted told. She has instructed family members to wear clown wigs and read her poems. This was her last wish!
