

Stan Mize passed away on June 1, 2025, at the age of 83 years. A native of Northwest Indiana, Stan was an automobile dealer for over 35 years. In 1968, he was one of the youngest car dealers granted a Dodge franchise. Stan expanded to multiple car lines and dealerships across northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan. Stan was active in Rotary, Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA), Lake County Auto Trade Association, and Hoosier Boys Town. He was instrumental in founding the Schererville Rotary Club serving as the Charter President and becoming a Paul Harris Fellow. Stan’s professional association with Chicago Automobile Trade Association had him serving as the Chairman of the Board for the 86th Annual Chicago Automobile Show and the Auto Show Chairman for the 87th Annual Chicago Automobile Show. For over 20 years, Stan was an honored active volunteer for Hoosier Boys’ Town and Hoosier Boys’ Town Foundation. Stan was awarded the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award for business achievement and community service in 1992. Stan retired in 2002, but continued to be active in the community by serving on the Board of Directors for Peoples Bank.
After retirement Stan enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and spending time with friends and family. Stan is survived by his wife, of 63 years, and partner in life’s adventures Mary Ellen (nee Magill). The two traveled the world together and enjoyed hosting family and friends at their Florida and North Carolina homes. He is also survived by his daughter Karen Arehart, granddaughter Chayse Arehart, son-in law David Frederick, sister Edna Hudacin and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Mize, brother Wayne Mize and parents David and Pearl Mize.
