

DAVIS, R. Corinne (Booher), 95, (aka “Sweetie Pumpkin”) died June 19, 2015 in Traverse City MI in the comfort of family members. Formerly of East Lansing MI and Mesa AZ, she was born September 17, 1919 in Toledo OH to Clarence Peter Booher (Van Wert OH) and Nettie Louise Bachman (Findlay OH). Corinne grew up the eldest of nine children in Melrose, Grover Hill, Toledo, OH and Lansing MI. Sister to Dorothy, Barbara, Jeanette, Clarence, Jack, Kenneth, Joyce and Barton. Corinne graduated from Lansing Eastern HS in 1937. Corinne married Robert W. Davis of Holt MI on December 3, 1937. Bob and Corinne had four children, Robert, Ronald, Judith, and Douglas.
Corinne became a computer programmer/analyst working many years for Michigan State Police, Treasury, Commerce, and American Express in AZ. Bob worked at Motor Wheel, served in US Navy and later became a Journeyman Carpenter when they moved to AZ. Corinne was preceded in death by husband, Robert (1977); 9-year-old son, Douglas (1951); and son, Robert (2011). The family missed their father (grandfather) and brother these many years and will always remember the parents’ example, work ethic, and commitment to family which many of their generation exhibited.
Corinne loved needlework and gave away many afghans, including one to each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren in the colors of their favorite schools or colleges. She was an independent woman, surviving 38 years on her own. Corinne had endless stories to tell about growing up in a large family and descriptions of life during the Depression and WWII.
She is survived by siblings, Jeanette and Barton; son, Ronald of Gilbert AZ; daughter, Judith Merchant of Tucson AZ; 7 grandchildren, Christine, Lesley, Thomas, Scott, Shelley, Mark, and Amy; 14 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Holt MI Thursday June 25, 2015 at 11:00 am where Corinne will be laid to rest beside her husband and youngest son.
