Mike was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his wife, Elena; daughters, Alyssa (15), Leila (9)and Celine (8). He loved to practice and watch the girls play softball and basketball, especially his eldest, Alyssa. Mike had a passion for many sports but he had a love for basketball. He enjoyed traveling with his family around the world.
MSgt Bob Parangan enlisted into Active Duty in March 1997. His last position held was a non-commissioned officer in charge for central storage in the 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. He directed 21 personnel on supply chain operations for a 1.4 billion dollar Department of Defense stock account. The LRS provides logistical support to two units on base, namely the 7th Bomb Wing and the 317th Airlift Wing. This support ensures that the wing is ready to provide deployable forces for combatant commanders in our Air Force's several areas of responsibility.
Since 1997, MSgt Parangan has been an NCOIC eight times and has served at the assistant NCOIC and section chief levels. Prior to Dyess, he was the Squadron Readiness Superintendent, in the 18th LRS at Kadena AFB, the largest logistics squadron in the Air Force, maintaining over 52 thousand line items. MSgt Parangan has been to several places around the world in his long 21 year career with our Nation's Air Force. His assignments include: Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada 1997 - 2011; Yokota, Japan 2011 - 2014 and Kadena AFB, Japan from 2014 - 2018. While assigned to these bases he received many opportunities to share his expertise with fellow Air Force members. That list consists of: Tyndall AFB, Florida in 2010; Hickam AFB, Hawaii in 2011; Aukland, New Zealand and shortly thereafter Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2014; Anderson AFB in 2015; finally Fayetteville, North Carolina and Arlington, Virginia in 2017.
