Dorothy Juanita Y'Barbo Sheddan

Services for Dorothy J. Sheddan, 83, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2019 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Homer Cemetery.

Mrs. Sheddan was born April 14, 1935 in Chireno, Texas, the daughter of the late Alice (Sepulva) Y’Barbo. She passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mrs. Sheddan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, and being around her family and pets. Mrs. Sheddan was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Eugene Rusch of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Carrie Raines of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Jean “Cookie” and Chuck Branton of Farmerville, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Charlotte Sheddan of Huntington; son, Mike Sheddan of San Antonio; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Orren Schmidt of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Joe and Christine Barbo of McKinney; sister-in-law, Velma Y’Barbo of Hudson; brother-in-law, Vernon Brown of Pollok; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sheddan was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Sheddan; parents; and brother, A. C. Y’Barbo.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Raines, Timothy Raines, Clay Branton, Clint Branton, Todd Hutson and Fernando Valadez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Pustka, Joe Sheddan, Don Barbo, Joe Barbo, Michael Sheddan II and Shane Brimer.

Mrs. Sheddan’s family wishes to extend special thanks to Hospice in the Pines for the loving care shown to her.

The family will receive friends from Noon until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
