Meet You in the Corridor – See You on the Other Side

Dear Pop,
I am so glad I got to say good bye to you. When the nurse told me you had a stroke, I knew you were waiting for me to arrive, so you could leave. It’s been almost two weeks now, since you stepped into the corridor and went to the realm called Heaven.

On the way home, I thought about the first time I ever saw you cry. It was just after mom had died. You were sitting in the red chair in the Livingroom. I was about to come down the stairs when I heard you. I paused for a moment, not knowing if I should come down or not. After a few minutes, I did come down. You were embarrassed to have me see you cry, after all, you were the strength of the family. You told me to go out and play as you got up and walked into the dining room. I didn’t say a word, I knew. I just went down the other steps and went out the front door. I never knew how much you truly loved her, until that moment. I know she met you in the corridor, and I know you are both together once again, in the realm called Heaven.

Although much time has passed since then, and our time together was short, but when I meet you in the corridor, you will understand it all. 

I had to stay away due to circumstances beyond my control, but in the corridor, you will understand the why.

I may have been forced away from you in life, but in the corridor, we will be eternal.

I stayed away for your peace of mind. I stayed away for your future sanity, within the life you chose. I refused to have you make that choice, but in the corridor, the reasoning will be made clear.

Although I have missed you through time, time never stopped me from thinking of you, and in the corridor, time will be forever.

Thank you for choosing me to be your daughter. Thank you for being their when I needed you the most. You are now, and forever will be, my Pop. See you on the other side.
