Edward Simpson

Edward "Ed" L. Simpson, 78, of Mansfield died Friday, April 30, 2010 at MedCentral Hospital. Born November 18, 1931 in Mansfield, he was the son of Robert W. and Virginia Weidle Simpson. A 1949 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, Ed worked at Saltzgaber Distributing with his father for several years before working at Bissman Distributing for 35 years. A softball player in his younger days, Ed also enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was a member of Sons of Herman for over 50 years and spent time with his wife cheering on the Green Bay Packers and New York Yankees. Ed was a hard worker and responsible man and caregiver to many.

Surviving is his loving wife of 31 years, Linda Beery Simpson; children, Vicki Rottie Payne of Huron, Thomas Diane Simpson of Huron, Jeff Simpson of Mansfield; grandchildren, Derek and Kevin Payne, Kim Mike Corder, Kelly Ryan Edgerly, and Ryan and Jacob Simpson; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother, Robert Norma Simpson of Mansfield. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Simpson.

Family and friends will meet at Mansfield Cemetery Friday, May 7, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. for a graveside memorial service conducted by Rev. Henry Parker. The Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Edward Simpson.
