Sue Harper Gregory

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sue Harper Gregory, 81, of Rainsville, Alabama, on May 2, 2025. Sue was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met.

She is survived by her children, Donna Stephens and Jacob Gregory of Douglasville, GA; two sisters, Sandra (Dale) Jordan and Brenda (Steve) Presley of Section, AL.; a special daughter, Cindy Newsome of Rainsville, AL; special grandson, Isaac Newsome of Rainsville, AL; as well as a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Roger Gregory, Jr.; husband, Roger Gregory; and parents, Olin and Lydia Harper.

Sue retired after 40 years of dedicated service at Kroger, where she met her husband, Roger. She was also a faithful member of Straight Creek Church of God. Her love for her church family was matched only by her joy in spending time with them. She especially cherished traveling to the Smokies with her church sisters, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and fellowship.

She had a playful spirit and loved being the center of attention. Whether it was playing cards, tackling a Sudoku puzzle, or baking her famously delicious M&M cookies; Sue’s warmth, humor, and sass made her unforgettable.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Scottsboro Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Straight Creek Church of God on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., led by Pastors Kyle Morrow and Frank Bradford. She will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. till 11:00 a.m.

Following service interment will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, GA

Pallbearers include Jeremy, Colby, and Mason Presley, Kevin Jordan, Isaac Newsome, and Jacob Gregory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Straight Creek Church of God in Sue’s memory.

Sue’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will forever remain in our hearts.
