As a young child, Nathelie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She attended McGregor schools and graduated from McGregor High School in the class of 1966. She then went on to attend North Texas University in Denton, Texas where she was a founding member of the Zeta Eta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta and graduated in the class of 1970 with a degree in Business Administration.
After college, Nathelie moved to Oakland, California where she worked and eventually retired from Pacific Bell Telephone Company. When her health declined in 2019, she moved back to Texas to live with her loved ones.
Nathelie departed this life on October 6, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father (Alton), her mother (Doris), and her sister (Karen).
She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Denise (James) and Stacey; two brothers, Alton Jr. and Sean, all of McGregor, Texas; four nieces, Nathelie (David), Tiana, Hope, and Jherica; four nephews, James, David, Dustin, and Seth; great niece, Sydney; and two great nephews, Luke and Jackson. Also cherishing her memory are aunts Alma, Ann, Lola, Lila, and Betty; uncle, Harry; best friends, Madelyn, Jennifer, and Renee; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers: James Daniels, Dustin Smith, Seth Love, Damion Washington, Daron Washington, Devin Washington, Anton Mackey, David Ashby, Luke Ashby, and Jackson Ashby.
